Angelina Jolie in Elie Saab

You know I have been wondering when this caftan by Elie Saab was going to make an appearance.  Angelina Jolie steps out in this gorgeous rust colored creation with nude peep-toe pumps and long ‘do to accept a humanitarian award at the Sarajevo Film Festival. Evan Rachel Woods Rock the Look

This has to be the best season ever for Evan Rachel Wood. The starlet shocked everyone with her new short haircut but has been owning this look ever since. Not to mention not everyone can pull off Dolce & Gabbana star-print pants with a Dennis Hopper tee and leather jacket (at the Curb Your Enthusiasm season premiere bash in NYC), but ERW looks amazing. She’s obvs having fun on the red carpet, and that enthusiasm is so infectious—she rocked her look.

Red Carpet Meets Precious in Pink at the 2011 Emmy’s

Jayma Mays 2011 Emmy Awards

Jayma Mays 2011 Emmy Awards

When most of the starlets were glazing the red carpet in form hugging frocks, Jayma Mays made a statement in a beautiful  Zuhair Murad gown of delicate pink embroidered lace and layers of frothy tulle. The matching satin ribbon waist and clutch gives this look an elegant finish. The only thing that we would have changed, was her hair and lips. A paler shade of pink with a smokey eye and simple updo would have made this look perfection.

2011 Emmys Fashion Patrol

Nina Dobrev 2011 Emmys

Hands down, the best dressed winner of the evening. NoT since Julia Roberts has anyone looked so fabulous in a strapless red gown. Nina Dobrev left jaws dropping with a perfect combination of Hollywood glamor meets girl next door. I love the side swept waves and golden tan against the perfect shade of red. It’s not to blue and not to orange. With minimal yet well chosen jewelry and contrasting clutch it’s a look that will not only be remembered, it will set trends for the year to come.

Weigh in your opinion on who were your best dressed red carpet nominees for the 2011 Emmy’s.

Chanel 2011 Fall Winter Paris Couture Collection Preview

Hello Truffles Girls,
It’s that time again and what better fashion review to do for fall than Chanel – The little black dress, the tweed suit, the quilted leather handbag, and the first-ever designer perfume—these are just some of Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel’s lasting contributions to fashion. Little did she know when she opened her small millinery shop in Paris in 1913 that she was laying the foundation for what would become one of the world’s most illustrious fashion houses in the world. Chanel quickly became the rage among upper-crust eager to don her modishly boyish dresses made of unfussy jersey.  In 1983, 12 years after Cocos passing, Karl Lagerfeld assumed creative control and the house was reborn into all its glory once again leaving us breathless year after year with fabulous creations that celebrate the magnificence of our iconic Coco.  So that brings us to the latest Chanel show for Fall 2011 in Paris. Lagerfeld recently acquired a full set of stills from 1927’s apocalyptic sci-fi classic Metropolis, signed by the film’s director Fritz Lang to its young star Brigitte Helm.  So I ask you, was it a sheer coincidence that there was a Metropolis feel to the set for his Paris Couture show? The backdrop for the presentation was right out of Lang’s mad scientist movie. The set was dark and glistening, like rain had just fallen. A perfect film noir atmosphere and Lagerfeld had the perfect script for it—Coco’s own life story- of coarse.. But, if the clothes themselves were any guide, he also wanted to preserve Coco’s mystery. The collection was dominated by shades of black, gray, and midnight blue with odd shots of fushia. Even when Lagerfeld used white, he defused it with a drizzle of dark beading or a shadowy veil or even a glittery black tank.  I was just crazy about the layered skirts that broke away from his usual slim knit silhouette. The rocker edged lace mixed with fingerless gloves and calf hugging boots. Karl may have cast a dark shadow over fall couture this year but he shows us that even dark times can be immensely seductive.

Falling Over For Thigh Highs

It’s not surprising that as the weather turns cooler, our toes go searching for a- little more coverage. But just when you thought that last years ankle boots were terribly cute,  the grand master designers are looking to keep our legs warm as well as the boots go knee and thigh high. To what do we owe this shocking extreme? To Fashion of coarse.. In the words of Coco Chanel herself, “Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening. ” … And I will definitely be happening in a pair of these boots this year. 🙂 Check out my top 5 favorites for Fall 2011.

Roberto Cavalli 2012 Resort Trend Preview

Hello Truffles Girls,
I’m back with a beautiful runway collection that will surely inspire your fun, playful side. Famed fashion designer Roberto Cavalli shared his acid-toned print resort collection with us and I’m hear to bring you a sneek peak of what’s coming up for 2012. In case you haven’t seen the memo, influences from the 70’s and 80’s are back with multi coloured floral bouquet prints in monochromatic colors. Playful hues in lemon, lime, red, rose and royal left jaws dropping and some in tears. Tie-dye prints and acid washes on a wide variety of fabrics and skins, from chiffon and crepe de chine, to printed knits and  leathers set the mood for a collection with pieces for everyone. I also even saw a new and unusual leopard print. As if our eyes hadn’t had enough, hand painted ivory, red and black completed the show in true cavalla style demonstrating that a younger more casual approach was on his mind. For the jewelery, reflective fabric with crystals and pearls, created a new techno iridescence. Fine bone porcelain was used to make floral chokers and bracelets with hand painted gold leaf detailing further accentuated the floral motifs. The classic Cavalli serpent this time was made from tiny engraved gold flowers arranged to form the shape of the snake. So what can we take for our own personal style from the sneek peak of what’s to come? Well even if you tend to wear a lot of black, mixing in some of the beautiful colors by adding a bold top or skirt is what I recommend. If you are more fashion forward, definitely go for the print pants and don’t be afraid to play with romantic skirt lengths and flirty layers of ruffles as well. Lace touches are always a must have in any wardrobe any time of year and they are terrific layered under jackets and suits for fall and winter. As a rule, don’t mix to many different prints together but have fun mixing the new styles in with your wardrobe basics.

EDITORS CHOICE: Dresses of the Royal Wedding

The red carpet was rolled out in front of Westminster Abbey in honor of the wedding of the century.  Catherine Middleton and Prince William’s wedding set the stage for a day of the most outrageous fashion London style. While the new Duchess of Cambridge captivated the world in a breathtaking dress by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen, there were many guests who caught my eye with their fashionable frocks.

Victoria Beckham and David Beckham
(On Victoria): Victoria Beckham design, Philip Treacy hat, and Christian Louboutin shoes
(On David): Ralph Lauren Purple Label

Princess Letizia of Asturias
I love the color and of this dress. Blush is a popular pink hue this year. It’s a nice option if you aren’t crazy about brights. Her hat is stunning. A really nice choice in the see of horrible hats that turned out for the day.

Queen Elizabeth II
Angela Kelly dress and hat with matching coat. Did you know that the Queens favorite color is yellow?

Carole Middleton
The mother of the bride looked beautiful and elegant in this Catherine Walker sheath and coat. The color is absolutely lovely and the style was perfect for the day.

Sophie Windsor
It’s never a bad idea to wear Armani. I actually like this design on Sophie. The simple clutch and dress is a great balance if your planning on going all out with a dramatic hat. But Armani shows that you still need enough structure and style to balance out a stunning topper.

Princess Marie-Chantal of Greece
Wistful grey is a terrific hue to wear. It’s amazing on most skin tones. I love this hat. It reminds me of a hat that Coco Chanel designed years ago. The only thing that I would have changed-I would have tailored her dress to show off her beautiful figure.

Samantha Cameron
Worst Dress: Burberry won’t be getting any praise for sending out this one. The color is not only the wrong choice for Samantha’s skin tone, nothing works about this look. The dress doesn’t fit and the design is horrible. I can’t even imagine why she mixed so many conflicting colors into her look. Wrong shoes, wrong wrap, and wrong necklace. What a shame.

2011 SAG Award Fashion Review

With the Golden Globes past and the Academy Awards just a few weeks away, this years 17th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards is where fashion meets celebrity and they sure showed up to make their presence known. The stars came out in full force this year with fashion clearly on their mind. Here are my top fashion picks for this years SAG Awards.

Heather Morris
Heather Morris

Can you tell that Strapless is coming in strong and furious for Spring? This years Spring Couture promises feminine touches and sexy shoulder baring styles unlike last years more structured designs. (Glees) Heather Morris looks stunning in this peach dream that proves it is possible to look effortless in high fashion. If you look closely, the dress is adorned with delicate folds of chiffon that make up this bodice of flowers. You can tell that alot of work went into this master piece and her figure is the perfect canvas for a truly beautiful gown. I love the sweeping length and flow of the skirt.

Natalie Portman

Natalie Portman

One of my favorites is Natalie Portman in this glittering white strapless gown by Azzaro. Not only did she walk away with the award for Outstanding performance by a female actor in a leading role (Black Swan) her fashion stars were in alignment. Her makeup was natural yet just enough to enhance her features. The elegant jewelry works because it is so feminine and delicate. Chunky jewels would have been to much.  Natalie’s hair was simple but classic showing that you can look simply fabulous even when you’re with child. Maternity wear never looked so glamorous. Congratulations on your first big win! Talent should never go unrewarded.

Sofia Vergara
Sofia Vergara

If you are one of my clients, you know that I love color. My favorite season is Spring for the simple reason that I adore playing with bright palettes of flowing fabrics that enhance the skin tone in a playful way. This is a hard dress to pull off but Modern Family star Sofia Vergara wears this Roberto Cavalli so well. I adore Cavalli, he inspires me to push my limits as a designer. With all the extravagant details and complicated folds, normally a dress like this can swallow you but she gives it just a hint of Sophia Loren sex appeal with tousled hair and a siren attitude. If you’re going to wear a dress like this, you have to be sure that you have the figure to pull it off. Be careful of being to top heavy and make sure that you are tall enough to balance the detail otherwise it will swallow you. I think she really looks  ah-mazing! Royal blue never looked so appealing.

Hilary Swank
Hilary Swank

Hilary Swank has been wearing Versace for years and it’s hard to find a look she hasn’t rocked. This dress has alot going on and I typically don’t like to see this much happening with 1 dress but her height and curves really give this dress a voice that Donatella can be proud of. If you know anything about the designer, this style is very classic Versace, even though they usually create in vibrant colors but this dress is so chic. Hilary could have done something different with her hair but as a big fan of Versace myself, I always love to see one of her creations walk the red carpet. Simply stunning!

Annette Bening
Annette Bening

Best Actress nominee, Annette Bening walked the red carpet in style this time with her handsome husband, Warren Beatty. They both looked amazing in true Hollywood glamor. As apposed to her terrible fashion choices for the Golden Globes, I love her in this high very Audry neckline by Tony Ward. The dress was embroidered with crystal stones and matte sequins. Clearly a gown that will be renowned  for bringing Annette back into the best dressed category. She not only looks stylish but in this bejeweled gilded gown Annette glows with classic glamorous beauty. And thank you for changing your hair. You know that I adore you, your Golden Globe hair was a disaster.

Lea Michele
Lea Michele

Glee star Lea Michele may be petite but she has proven here that you can still look sleek and gorgeous if you wear a dress that is well proportioned for what you have to work with. This plunging Oscar de la Renta metallic gown with last years big accessory, the waist cinching belt is a look that would make the red carpet stand up and take notice. If your busty, you don’t want to adorn such a low cut style. This is a better choice for a smaller shape and yes a little tape will be necessary. But hopefully your stylist will come prepared.

Mila Kunis
Mila Kunis

The lady in red. I really like this dress. It’s not the typical red carpet gown but Mila Kunis the star of “Black Swan” wore it so well proving that you can pull off prints if you have the right mix of hue and fabric. The whimsy of this strapless chiffon gown by Alexander McQueen is a modern turn on today’s celebrity red carpet fashion. Plus Mila’s dramatic smoky eye makeup really took her look to another level. She looked like she was coming off a NY Runway show. I can’t wait to see how Joan Rivers responds to this one. P.S- Mila is wearing over 300,000 in Cartier Jewelry. Where are the body guards?

Angie Harmon
Angie Harmon

Finally my favorite gown of the evening was this show stopping pink feathered princess like gown worn by Angie Harmon. The dress was designed by Monique Lhuillier and it moved like she was walking on air. As Angie crossed the stage, this dress played a graceful song and she was the star. The jewelry wasn’t over done and the hue was perfect for her skin tone. Along with clean hair simple hair, sexy bare shoulders and springs dewy make-up, Angie gets my vote for the best dressed of the night. I can’t help but be excited for my favorite season, if this is a preview into what Spring has in store for us.Be sure to subscribe to Today’s Truffles if you love fashion and want to see more celebrity fashion reviews. Have you seen the Golden Globe Fashion Review? There are more amazing styles for you to see and the celebrities are out in full force this season. I’m looking forward to another year of fabulous fashion.
